You know, I read it in a magazine

I had a dream about reloading paper in a printer. I noticed some dust on the top so I wiped it off. Doing so showed more dirt and dust. I pulled the paper out and saw cobwebs and spider skins and dust. I had to remove several layers of paper from the top and bottom of the stack. I set those aside to discard later. (I don’t like throwing blank paper away… it’s good for sketching.)

It got me thinking…

Science Fiction foretells the future or manifests it. I wonder if we could create the Diamond Age? (I sure loved that book!) If enough people read a book, does it manifest? Are the ideas already cemented in the collective unconscious? If so, then majority rules. What happens with the outliers?

These are the types of things I think about. Crazy, eh?

As you probably already know, I am a big fan of Omni magazine, and am excited it is coming back. It is the inspiration of a project I am moving my focus to: I am working on launching a magazinePopular Paradigms. This is also inspired by Popular Science and Popular Mechanics, two other magazines I love to flip through. If you know all three magazines, you may have an idea of what is going on in my mind.

Placing a magazine online opens up opportunity – and the possibility of confusion. I know there are some fringe ideas which should become mainstream. (I wonder if the dream I had of stopping the apocalypse is connected to this… my dream with the electronic pen. I’ll write about that one later.)

Popular Paradigms should have an annual “Shift Happens” issue.
